Socatoa is a city in [[Gardellia]]. It is bordered by [[Cacklesburg]] to the south and [[Minehall]] to the north. The exact date of its founding is lost, but it is known to have existed since 22 April 2017. 

==Name==
The name comes from the mathematics acronym "SOHCAHTOA", which is a way of remembering how sines, cosines, and tangents work. The h's were removed from the acronym to create a more visually pleasing name.

Socatoa was originally founded as Bagong Lipunan, which means "New Society" in Tagalog. It was renamed to New Butuan from 18 December 2017 onwards, the 'old' Butuan being a city in the Philippines. The town was renamed to Socatoa on 4 June 2018. It was decided that no references will be made to Philippine languages or Philippine place names in the new name in order to prevent non-Filipino players from pronouncing it in a manner that can be described as "white".
