The Capitol Monorail is a monorail line serving New Wolfminster's Wolfminster Borough. The line opened on the 3rd of April 2021 coinciding with the server's tenth anniversary.
The monorail is also the city's first operational railway system using New Model Technology trains.
History
With construction of New Wolfminster underway, it was decided early on that the construction of the city's Metro system would be delayed as far back as possible. This was to allow for city planning to take place without it railways being at the focus of such plans. Proposals for the construction of the Metro system were frowned upon early on.
In place of the lack of a Metro system, a monorail system was proposed to take on the role of being the city's temporary main form of transport until it was further developed and deemed ready for the construction of a full Metro system.
Original plans called for a monorail system to form a loop around the south of Wolfminster island and to connect to Capitol Island and Mechant's Island, similar to the current route of the City Loop (5th Haven). However, due to construction delays and opposition, only a small section of the monorail would be constructed.
The line opened on the 3rd of April 2021 coinciding with the server's tenth anniversary. It was extended one station east to Exchange Place on the 18th of September of the same year.
Extensions to Wolfminster Island
Apart from the 5 stations in the current system, there were plans to further extend the monorail into Wolfminster island itself for an exposition ground planned there. These plans did not materialise when the exposition itself was cancelled.
Future
The Capitol Monorail's future remains uncertain as it was designed as a temporary rail network with the intention to be demolished when the Metro opens. As construction on the Metro continues the monorail would either continue operating along with the Metro or be retired and demolished.
