The Sandbox, abbreviated as SB, is a territory that was made in 2012 to add some fun to the server. The world uses the PlotMe generator but does not have the anti-grief protection working to allow for flexibility for players to easily combine plots. Players are free to build in any plot as long as it is empty or is not taken and may claim them by either building on them or placing an empty sign inside the plots.
The world has been reset multiple times and its current iteration is its 5th iteration.
History
1st to 3rd Iterations
The first to third iterations of the Sandbox did not last very long and mostly lasted a couple of months as not a lot of substantial development was done in there. There was not enough player sentiment towards the builds and creations there to justify saving those iterations.
4th Iteration
The 4th Iteration of the world ran from 2012 to 2013, but eventually had to be deleted due to corruption within the world
5th Iteration
The current iteration of the world ran from 2013 to 2023
Downfall
Since Gardellia's opening in 2016, popularity of the SandBox had fallen to an all-time low, the playerbase had shifted towards one that valued the ability to create entire towns or cities instead of individual creative builds.
The SandBox was intended as a supplement to the server's then survival-focused playerbase, which has since dwindled, and no longer met the needs of the creative-focused playerbase today.
Replacement
Announced in Vision 2023, the server set out the termination and closure of the SandBox. Among the reasons cited was its downfall. In its replacement was to be a new creative world to serve a segment of the community which the current Gardellia and Calidia would serve.
The new creative world would be of natural generation and allow players to build anything they wanted, similar to the SandBox without the restrictions for proper city building like the other two creative worlds.
