Greater WolvHaven Transformation 2020
Overview
Type Organizational Transformation Programme
Formed 28 December 2018
Motto Transforming for the better

The Greater WolvHaven Transformation 2020 (GWHT) also known as Transformation 2020 was an Organizational Transformation programme introduced in late 2018, to be completed by 2020 in response to player feedback that player applications were not processed in a timely fashion, and inconsistencies or even potential staff bias when certain applications were processed.

Transformation Programmes

The programme was split into multiple smaller transformation programmes; namely: Staff, Service, Web, Parliament, Workforce, Gardellia, Server Experience

  • Staff Transformation sought to streamline and make clear the roles and responsibilities of members of Staff.
  • Service Transformation aimed to streamline the processing procedures and timelines of various application forms on the server
  • Web Transformation aimed at a full revamp of the server's website
  • Parliament Transformation sought to improve Staff implementation of passed acts of parliament
  • Workforce Transformation was to revamp the Architect rank
  • Gardellia Transformation seeked to regulate alliances and expand the Gardellia Mainlines down south
  • Experience Transformation sought to review the overall server experience for players

Impact

The full transformation plan was not completely implemented; but there were several key notable changes to the server as a result of the transformation plan. The most notable change was in application processing timeframes as part of the Service Transformation.

Staff Transformation

Several changes to the Staff team were made as part of the GWHT. This included the launching of a new Senior Moderator (SrMod) rank inbetween Moderators and Admins. Senior Moderators were to act as mentors and supervise members of staff. Apart from the SrMod rank, a Senior Helper rank was also planned to be introduced. But this was not implemented as the staff team was not set to grow to a size that would justify it.

A new helper application process was introduced. Previously, applicants could only apply for the role if there were vacancies available. After GWHT, proespective candidates would be allowed to apply for the rank and applications would be processed every month. This would eventually be reversed with Vision 2023 where admission into the staff team was to be on an invite-only basis.

Staff manuals and guides were also updated to fit in with the latest rule changes.

Service Transformation

Service Transformation was the largest success in the GWHT programme. Administrative days were introduced for the first time and various applications were given classifications. A service doctrine was also introduced with suggested timeframes for which staff to respond in time.

Applications were split into 3 categories: Category A, B and C

  • Category A - Immigration test applications to be processed within 2 days
  • Category B - Essential applications such as the former Gardellia build access and WorldEdit Qualifications test to be processed weekly
  • Category C - Non-essential applications such as ranks and public housing to be processed monthly

Staff were also expected to track the processing timeframes of each application using an Administrative Tracking Sheet.

Regulatory Enforcement Actions (REAs) were also introduced, mainly split into 2 categories

  • Monthly - Gardellia Abandoned Claims review
  • Quarterly - Sandbox cleanup and Staff performance reviews

Web Transformation

The original forum system that was implemented with the official WolvHaven website was not as well utilized as expected. This was due to the declining usage of online forums and the shift to instant messaging apps such as Discord. With most of the activity happening on the WolvHaven Discord, the decision was made to terminate the forums.

The server's website was also fully transformed by bringing it up to date with the latest which the website software had to offer, improving the mainainability of the site.
