Planning for the Metro system began since the inception of City's 5th rendition - New Wolfminster. However, development of the system was delayed for three years to allow for the foundation of the city to be laid so that the Metro System was not the primary focus. The delay meant that the system was able to adopt New Model Technology for its trains, avoiding many of the design constraints such as steep gradients and tight curves that would have been introduced had the system been developed around the traditional minecart system.

Track profile
Track infrastructure on the 5th Haven Metro is 5m wide with a 3m loading gauge. The tracks are primarily formed by a solid line of polished andesite through the middle with anvils on either side. On straight alignments, rail blocks are seen placed on the polished andesite blocks for the movement of trains. To facilitate smoother movement of the New Model Technology trains on slopes and curves, traincarts coasters tracks are used, and do not have the rail blocks placed on the polished andesite line where in use.
Track color codes
Several colors are also used on the polished andesite line to demarkate the location of traincarts signs and other trackside supporting technical infrastructure. The colors are as follows:
* #FCB23E Yellow Concrete - Track switch point
* #5FAB12 Lime Concrete - Train frequency regulator
* #292B91 Blue Concrete - Train station sign/announcement/launcher signs
Gradients
Gradients on the tracks are 1:32 (3.126%) where space is available, however many sections of the network use the steepest allowable gradient of 1:21 (4.762%) due to space constraints.
Curves
A minimum curve radius of 60m is maintained as well.

The WolvHaven Metropolitan Train Network (WolvHaven Metro) is a rapid transit system serving New Wolfminster. The system serves 10 stations along four routes on 13.1km of track. The system is owned by Transport for WolvHaven and is operated by the Société Métropolitaine et Régionale des Transports (SMRT) and its services are designated using the letter T, denoting 'Train'. The initial system is scheduled to open in stages from 2023.

History

Planning

Planning for the Metro system began since the inception of WolvHaven City's 5th rendition - New Wolfminster.

It was also made clear from the beginning that the system would be designed to be convertible to be used with the Realistic Train Mod (RTM) should the server intend to release the world in the future for players.

Unlike the WolvHaven Metro (4th Haven) which was heavily based off the Paris Metro with high station and line density, the new Metro system was conceptualised to be a heavy-rail commuter-metro system with much wider station spacing, and fewer lines. This was criticised by some as New Wolfminster was over 10 times the size of its predecessor, and was addressed with the consideration of the construction of several Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines where needed.

Construction

Modified Initial System

In line with Vision 2023, the new metro system was a key component in getting New Wolfminster (5th Haven) ready for use by 2023. An initial system comprising of all of the stations in the City Loop and a short portion of the T3 East-West Line was marked for completion by the end of 2022 to allow for a basic metro system to serve the city when it takes over as the main world of the server.

Much progress was made, with many of they key pieces of infrastructure being completed. However, due to the speed of progress, it was evident that the original initial system may not be completed in time by 2023, due to the slow construction work on the eastern train junction of the loop.

The modified initial system was proposed to enable construction works to be focused on getting the system ready for operation by 2023. This system would include all of the stations in the city loop, however with the service not operating in a looping manner due to the delays in construction of the Eastern rail junction.

City Loop

The City Loop is a U-Shaped tunnel connecting three islands within the Wolfminster borough. Similar to the Sydney City Circle and Melbourne's City Loop; WolvHaven's City loop connects Wolfminster Island, Merchant's Island and Capitol Island. Twin-bored tunnels were constructed by GukkyGukz.

The loop comprises 8 stations - La Resistance, Bonaventure, Sarglia, Haymarket, Exchange Place, City Hall, Parliament Square and Lower West End. Of the 8 stations, 3 of them were selected as a result of a design competition that was called for City Hall.

The City Hall station was designed by Wilhelm59 and pays homage to the original City Hall station of the 4th Haven Metro system, which in turn paid homage to the station from 3rd Haven.

Parliament Square station was designed by bokbokobma, and the Lower West End station was designed by GravityDuke. Both are heavily inspired by stations on the Moscow Metro.

 •      Yellow Concrete - Track switch point
 •      Lime Concrete - Train frequency regulator
 •      Blue Concrete - Train station sign/announcement/launcher signs

Gradients

Gradients on the tracks are 1:32 (3.126%) where space is available, however many sections of the network use the steepest allowable gradient of 1:21 (4.762%) due to space constraints.

Curves

A minimum curve radius of 60m is maintained as well.
